Difference Between Joy and Happiness

It is no mystery that we all want to be happy, but as a Christian we should seek joy instead, there is a difference between joy and happiness.

Psalms 16:11 tells us, “Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” This lets us know that He will show us the path of life and as He guides we can have a fullness of joy and at His right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Next in Psalms 16:9 we learn, “Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.” As we walk this path of life as a servant for the Lord our hearts should be glad and we should rejoice and rest in hope.

To Strive As Christians and Humans

As Christians and humans we have moments of happiness which are wonderful and brings smiles to our faces and leave memories for us to cherish. But let us not forget that happiness can be used as a tool from Satan to make us look at the here and now and live for those brief moments. True Christians should strive for the true inner joy that our Lord wants us to have. To have a joy that is steadfast, that allows us to overcome discouragements and will last continually along this path of life.

I hope this encourages you to let the joy of the Lord guide your daily life and to let your hope always be in Jesus Christ our Lord. Remember enjoy the happy moments of life, but let your true source of joy come from the Lord and remembering daily the difference between joy and happiness.
