Physical door one of you take care of yourself, dont you? This post will give insight as to what our responsibilities are in this area of our life. Even though we live in a stressful world, we can find some simple tips to guide in a better well being. I do not claim to have the corner on great health, but I do believe everyone can benefit from one or more of the tidbits in this post.
The Struggle is Real
To be the best possible servants we can be for the Lord, we need to keep ourselves healthy. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethern, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
This is just as much a struggle for me, as it is for many of you. With our overworked minds, bodies, emotions, it’s all we can do to keep up, much less take care of ourselves. But to be whole and complete we need good physical health.
There are lots of physical issues, some we cannot help (we were born with these), but others we can take baby steps in addressing them. I know most of my readers are in their mid to late 30’s and your thinking the damage is done. I have access baby weight, sleep deprived, stress beyond imagination and a juggling act I cannot keep up with. Breathe, girl, Breathe! As I said before it’s one step at a time, whether your in mid mom chaos, a young lady, middle aged or an elderly lady.
Physical Door One of You Take Care Basics
We need to get to some basics first. Basics God wants us to be aware of. Yes, it’s gonna mean struggles and sacrifices. Whether your 21 or 71, you have to put the steps of your day in order.
I have found that by having good sleep patterns, yes this takes work, how do I know? I have a 24 year old single daughter, I am a 56 year old grandmother and I have a 74 year old mom, and many younger friends with small children, guess what? We all have sleep issues. Getting into a routine and staying there is a challenge, but it is worth it.
With a rested body and a routine we can start our day with some quiet time with the Lord. This gives us guidance to get through the day, something we cannot do by ourselves. We need not overeat, stress, overwork ourselves to the point we are no good to anyone. We have to want to open this physical door one of you take care concept.
Request and Renewing
We need to be specific with our physical concerns with the Lord when we pray. Let me ask you a question, Do you think the Lord wants us to be unhealthy? Once again, unless we were born with life disabilities or issues beyond our control, the answer is no. He wants us refreshed and renewed, Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Do we ask for what our bodies need, according to His will?
It all starts with a conscious effort every morning in our prayers to the Lord. If your of a sound mind and body the Lord expects you to take care of both. We need not defile it, or abuse our bodies, but keep it a temple for the Lord. 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Being the Best We Can Be
In conclusion, we need to ask Him to guide our physical well being, and He will do so. He wants us to be able to work and serve Him in a productive manner. Will we, is the next question? There are many more issue to address within our physical responsibilities to the Lord, ourselves and our families. I hope to post about these in the upcoming weeks.
